About The Event
We’re deeply honored to welcome Hu Anyan, author of I Deliver Parcels in Beijing, and Jack Hargreaves, the book’s English translator, for a cross-continental conversation about writing, translation, and the stories that move quietly through a city.
Through his work, Hu Anyan captures Beijing from the handlebars of his delivery bike — its rhythm, its hidden warmth, and the fleeting connections between people who keep the city alive. In this event, he’ll share the lived moments behind the book and what it means to write about work, change, and belonging in a rapidly transforming world.
Translator Jack Hargreaves will then speak about the art of bringing this vivid, grounded storytelling into English — and how translation can carry not just words, but the heartbeat of a place.
